I always love getting the chance to shoot live music and especially good live music. Brian Free and Assurance (BFA) were in Arab, Alabama. For those not from North Alabama Arab is pronounced AY-rab, completely unlike what you would call a country in the Middle East. I do find it ironic though that the Arab High School (where the concert was) mascot is the Knights.
BFA always delivers a great show anywhere they are and they did not disappoint for a great, enthusiastic crowd. The quartet's show consisted of mainly songs from their latest album "Unashamed" which in my opinion is their best offering to date and easily the best Southern Gospel album released in 2014.
The concert marked the first time I have heard Canaan's Crossing live and they really have a great live sound. They deliver the traditional, tight bluegrass harmonies without too much of the nasal twang that can drive people away. They are very talented group both vocally and musically. Their band has three teenagers that all have a bright future in the bluegrass world.
Canaan's Crossing is from Arab, so the hometown crowd was very receptive to their set and were on their feet several times during the night.
If you get a chance to go see either of these groups, make sure you go and do so.
